A natural face cleanser is a great choice when your usual product is simply empty, or you would like to try a natural version. Take care when using certain brands as some may contain parabens, alcohol, or fragrance which can be potentially harmful to your skin. As an alternative, search for a cleanser containing retinol, ceramides, & high in Vitamin C. The prime choice, however, is to keep things completely natural. I like my products like I like my people: non-toxic. Therefore, I want to recommend that you do the same. Follow my natural skincare routine, using simple ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen cupboards.
1) Honey Cleanser
To begin with, honey acts as a rich moisturiser due to its antioxidants. This will leave your skin feeling silky smooth and hydrated. In addition, honey can be used by almost every skin type including those of you with sensitive skin. Generally, natural products will be more kind to your skin than the manufactured cleansers so you do not need to worry about any repercussions. As well as smooth skin, honey also helps to fight acne owing to its antibacterial properties. A combination of benefits gained from such a simple food product. Amazing!
Here, there are two different ways in which you can use honey as a cleanser. Firstly, take half a teaspoon of honey and massage it into your skin. Be mindful that its consistency will be relatively sticky. To create a smoother formula, add a few drops of warm water before applying. Finally, wash off with water and pat dry. With the leftover honey, add some to a cup of hot milk with cinnamon to help improve your sleep.
Another natural product which we should always have in our fridge is natural yogurt. I recommend using yogurt for those of you who have oily skin. The protein in the yogurt will help to tighten pores and prevent your skin from damage. To start with, you can use it in the exact same way as we did with the honey. Otherwise, try mixing the two together. Roughly combine 2 tablespoons of yogurt with 1-2 of honey. Apply this to your face and wait around 10-15 minutes before washing it off.
3) Milk & oatmeal
Another natural product that makes for a great facial cleanser is calcium filled milk. Its lactic acid sweeps away the dead skin cells. As a result, the appearance of dark spots will reduce, whilst it also works to minimise signs of ageing. If you wish to turn back the clock, try out Hello Glow’s rice milk cleanser. Otherwise, create your own effective version by combining milk and oats until you have a pulpy texture. Just like with the honey cleanser, massage it into your face and wash it off with warm water. So simple!
As can be seen, different types of ingredients hold several benefits. Choose the right cleanser for you, based on the results that you want to achieve. In addition, certain products are more beneficial for you depending on how much makeup you wear on a daily basis, your age, skin type, etc. No matter which cleanser you choose in the end, let’s remember that these products are most likely to already be in your home, so have a play around with them and try each one before you find your perfect match.
